Bring on the next meeting in two weeks – trophy day in normal direction. Hopefully the weather will be kind and we can get a great turnout.

WE WON!!!!

Yep, we did.  But, it was real close – once again.

0.82 of a point.

This is how close it was – mind boggling!

So,

year one – hosted by Auckland, won by Auckland

year two – hosted by Mt Wellington, won by Mt Wellington

year three – hosted by Auckland, won by Auckland

Here’s the challenge – WHO will break the tie-break & win this event outside their home environs?

WE have the next opportunity – so lets make sure that in 2012 we make it two in a row & break the staus quo.

Cadet class, numbers wise, was dominated by Mt Welly but it was Aucklanders one & two – Lee Zeltwanger & Dylan Smith with Liam Lawson third.

JR’s, although Auckland had the upper hand (by just one), in numbers this class was spread much more evenly; Seb Bainbridge for Mt Welly winning with Aucklanders Aidan Robson & Connor Wilson in 2^nd & 3^rd.

Junior Yamaha, small field that it was, was dominated by Mt Wellington.  Sam Carpenter & Cameron Dance in 1^st & 2^nd & Finley McLaren, for Auckland, in 3^rd.

Mt Wellington also had the upper hand, numbers wise, in Formula Junior.  CJ Sinclair winning the class, with our Auckland reps, Joe Ganley & Arran Crighton, hot on his heels; followed by a further gaggle of Mt Welly drivers.

All the Senior Yamahas ran together on track.  Club Class went to Auckland’s Kayne Laughton, unopposed.  Yamaha Light & Yamaha Heavy also went Auckland’s way unopposed;  not a Mt Wellington Yamaha representative to be seen.  Lights went to Blair Holdom, from Todd Jolly & Scott Sample & Heavys was headed by Adam Davis from Danny Keene & Sharn Connor.

Rotax Light class was a more even split with Mt Wellington slightly ahead in the representative stakes.  In the first three it was Auckland 2, Mt Wellington 1; Nick Carpenter from Rollo Davies & Shaun Curran.

Rotax Heavy saw Auckland overwhelm Mt Wellington both in numbers & results .  Cameron Dennis taking the days win from Anthony Murch & Dwane Smith – all AUCKLAND!!!!

To Mt Wellington, we thank you for your pride & passion also; we KNOW that the 2012 challenge will be as hard fought as this years one was & you will have the home track advantage.

WE WILL BE PREPARED!

Our Auckland members contesting the 2011 Pro-Kart Series headed south once again for round 4 being hosted by Bay of Plenty.

KZ2 .  Following on from the previous round at their home track our Auckland reps headed out of town for the next battle.  Pipped at the post for qualifying top spot Ryan Grant & Graeme Smyth were both on missions to improve their overall standings.  Scott Reddish, with a missed round & out of the top running as a result, was out to mix it up & unfortunately Jody Vincent was unable to contest this round.

All our drivers experienced issues throughout the weekend.  In the case of Ryan, his came from an outside source; being taken out in one of the early heats by an ‘’over zealous’’ competitor.  As always this class provided hard & fast racing.  Ryan won the final & finished 4^th overall for the round with Graeme finishing 5^th in the final & 2^nd (by just 1 point) for the round.  Scott DNS’d the final.

The Masters class saw our Auckland team continue with their consistent performances; Mark Lane & Brett Hollander battling it out with the front runners with Todd Wheeler not far behind.  These three finishing 2^nd, 3^rd & 4^th for the round & consolidating their overall positions.

The juniors in KF3 also continued their campaign with Connor Westbury achieving 7^th place for the round & now sitting 6^th overall in the series.

The final round is to be contested at the Hamilton Club in September; we wish our Auckland drivers well.

Our Auckland members contesting the 2011 Pro-Kart Series returned to their home track for round 3 with mixed results.

In KF3 the “Two Connors”, despite racing hard, had no answer to the front runners.  Both of our Auckland reps holding their overall positions.

KZ2 Masters saw the Lane/Hollander torpedo assisted by Todd Wheeler in the Auckland charge for front running spots.  Hawkes Bay’s Tom Curran still holds sway in this area but the Aucklanders did themselves proud & kept on coming. 

KZ2 .  Two of the best drivers in the country in this class reside at Auckland Club & this weekend were on their home track.  After losing an engine & then a gearbox at the Tokoroa round Graeme Smyth had a bit of catch up on his agenda.  Club & team-mate, Ryan Grant had had issues at Tokoroa also & was champing at the bit on his home track.  Scott Reddish, after missing an earlier round had returned to the fray & Jody Vincent was just THERE!

T’was hard & fast racing in this class over the weekend with Ryan winning the Final & Graeme right behind in 2^nd – just how it should be for these drivers ‘’at home’’.  Ryan making further inroads on the series leaders points & Graeme just having a far better round than Tokoroa.  Scott finished top six for the day & Jody held his overall position.

Who will take home the trophy this time.  Mt Wellington have it so we need to win it back!
