Kartsport Auckland – Champion Club!

AGAIN!

Following on from winning the Top Half Series Club Challenge we have also added to the trophy cabinet the Auckland/Mt Wellington Annual Challenge Cup.

Credit to the dedicated FEW members that took it upon themselves to contest – and WIN – this years Inter-Club Challenge.

As always, it was close – only 2 points separated the two clubs at the end of the day.  This year is the first time the host club has not been the winner.

We thank Mt Wellington club for their hospitality & arranging the weather.  It was a wonderful FUN day under the sun; albeit a cool sun.

Highlights -

Auckland dominated Senior Yamaha (not a Mt Welly driver to be seen!)  On the other hand, Mt Welly dominated both Junior classes – Yamaha & Formula J – not an Aucklander to be seen in either of these classes.

Un-Rated Cadets – Callum Armstrong achieved his first ever race win & finished second overall – and it was a close battle!

The Primary/Intermediate section was closely fought; a three-way tie that after the countback system saw Waiau Pa School – Matthew Payne & Liam Lawson – take the title from Birkenhead Primary – Dylan & Ashton Grant – with Albany Primary – Ryan Crombie & Ryan Murdoch – in third.
Thirty one schools were represented overall with five Primary/Intermediate and seven Secondary schools fielding teams.
The Cadet class went to NZ #1 Matthew Payne from Sam Wright & Ben Morrison.  Dylan Grant held out the Albany Primary pairing of Ryan Crombie & Ryan Murdoch to take the unrated section of cadets.

Formula Junior was a class field.  Howick College’s CJ Sinclair drove superbly for the overall win from Kaitlyn Wonnacott and Arran Crighton.
Nick Carpenter won Yamaha Light from Shuan Grocock & also went on to win Rotax Light from Ben Kimber & brother Sam.
