The 2007 Burger Fuel Series concluded last Sunday with a slightly larger turnout than round one.
The big winners were series winners Blake Filleul and Brendon Smith. Blake, who won the Cadet Class, and Brendon, who won Senior Yamaha Heavy, received an extra $500.00 each for the Junior and Senior winners draw. In addition, these two drivers have each received Burger Fuel sponsorship for the coming 2008 year; joining Stephen Kelly and Graeme Smyth on the Burger Fuel Team.
In Un-Rated Cadets Jacob Smith repeated his round one win and took the day and the series overall. By winning all the races at this round Jacob finished up with a pretty comfortable overall points win. Finley McLaren and Luke Dobbs, who were 2 nd & 3 rd in the series had much closer points overall.
Cadets saw the return of CJ Sinclair & Kaitlyn Wonnacott; these two battling at the front for the days honours. CJ prevailed by just one point from Kaitlyn. As neither of these two drivers had contested the first round the series battle was back with Michael De Ponte, Blake Filleul & Aimee Rutherford. Third place for the day gave Blake the series win from Michael in second & Aimee third.
Aaron Wilson & Shaun Grocock continued to play at the front of Junior Restricted and at round two of Burger Fuel Jordan Hart joined in. The results for the day and the series were these three consolidating their track positions.
Formula Junior & Junior Yamaha ran together on the track again at this round; The Formula Juniors were still too tired from the 3-Way Prizegiving so it was Scott Reddish alone again taking the series win and the booty. Daniel Colville repeated his round one clean sweep in Yamaha with five from five at round two. This boy’s learning real fast! Adam Davis turned the tables on Jake Connor for the round two result taking second place in the series also.
Lights & Heavys were together on the track in Senior Yamaha as well at this round. Brendon Smith took Yamaha Heavy, repeating his round one clean sweep. Dion Kendall, who was a busy wee beaver running in two classes, finished second for the day from Colin Lewis in third.
Round two in Lights saw Matthew Sloper and Graeme Smyth battling it out. It was Matthews consistency that saw him take the round two win. Graeme held on to his points lead from round one and took the series. Michael Boyle and Matt Wallace had their own battle with the round & series results seeing Michael in third & Matt in fourth.
The Open Class guys decided to front for round two of Burger Fuel – till it rained!! All but Shaun Wotherspoon packed up so we stuck Shaun off the front of Rotax for the rest of the day.
Kane Taylor decided not to get wet as well so the Rotax Light class went to Michael Emmerson.
But the Rotax Heavy’s came out in force!! Anthony Murch managed another clean sweep which gave him the series win. Busy beaver Dion had another second place for the day and Tim Wakefield was third.
The Club Class days results ended up being in the same finishing order as the series overall results – you guys are organized!!!
Todd Jolly, despite a couple of hiccups through the day, was first from Shaun Curran and Garry Cullum.
