What an enjoyable day Sunday was. Neither the weather nor the company of all the competitors, supporters, officials and volunteers could be faulted.
Lots of new faces from Mt Wellington and Whangarei Clubs and new faces to karting as well; hope you all enjoyed your day.
The Rotax Heavy class is growing numbers every meeting; 10 hit the track on Sunday and they ran on the track with Open and Rotax Light.
Anthony Murch, once again, took the club day honours from Garry Claxton and Warren Parris. Nice to see Sue Thomas back; Sue finished in fourth.
Alan Sherris is looking a lean mean racing machine in more ways than one, and he took out Rotax Light from the Hurliman boys of Michael & Andrew in second & third respectively.
Auckland welcomed back David Munro this weekend; David hasn’t raced for a year or so & has returned in a Formula 125S. He took the Open class honours from Keith Warwick.
Another good field was Club Class; we ran these guys off the front of Yamaha Light & Heavy. Shaun Curran prevailed with the win from Shanon Hope – who achieved his C Rating at this meeting, congratulations! – with Kerrin Brady in third.
Leyton Kendall won Yamaha Heavy from Colin Lewis and Nigel Kurtz won Lights from Heather Comer.
It was a battle in Formula Junior between Mitchell Pykett and Jake Bonney, with Mitchell taking the win. Marius Holm finished in third spot.
Jamie Lane had a clean sweep in Junior Yamaha taking the win from Lachlan Russell and Danny Keene.
Junior Restricted was a small field but Oliver Pykett and Nicholas Carpenter provided some great racing for the spectators. Oliver won the day from Nicholas with Jonathon Buxeda in third & Samuel Carpenter in fourth.
A dozen Cadets rocked up for Sundays meeting; Finley McLaren held off a swag of Mt Wellington drivers to take the days win. Richard McCarthy finished second & Alex Edwards was third. Congratulations to Dylan Smith who gained his C-Rating.
