Club Day 13 July 2008

It was a mixed bag of all-sorts on Sunday. We had new & old competing, new & old in official & catering positions and new & old equipment - some of which failed!

But, as things generally do, it all came out in the wash & we hope that you had an enjoyable day.

An indication that the Top Half final round will be contested at Auckland in a fortnight was apparent in the sizes of some of the classes.

Cadet, once again, were the largest class on track. Thomas McLean, one getting some inside running prior to Top Half, trekked down from the Winterless North & showed a clean pair of wheels to the rest of the drivers. Jacob Smith, who has stepped up in recent meetings finished in second with Logan Brown, another serious Top Half contender in this class, in third.

By-the-by, we have two ‘Cadet Mums’ currently working in Race Control; check out the tower next time Cadets are on the track. If the windows aren’t too fogged up it may well be fun to watch.

T’was a classy field of JR’s on track this weekend. Aaron Wilson took the day from Kaitlyn Wonnacott & CJ Sinclair.

A pretty classy field of Junior Yamaha too! Levi Madsen-Prinn had a clean sweep, taking the days honours from Jamie Lane & Adam Davis.

Formula Junior saw Scott Reddish take the win from Jake Bonney & Michael Bird.

A really great field of Senior Yamahas this weekend - 12 in Club Class & 8 in Lights. Plus a lone Leyton in Heavys!

Deon Forrest, another driver with a clean sweep, took out Lights from Jason Butterworth - Jason getting a refresher ready for Top Half - and Scott Burkhart. Club Class went to Steve Fistonich from Michael O’Dell & Shaun Curran.

Our Lone Leyton won Heavys….

Our Rotax Class this club day was awesome as well with some old faces returning. Rotax Heavy went to Brent Gilchrist from Peter Ball, looking smart in the new Intrepid chassis, and Steve Cox, another driver recently switched to Intrepid.

Lights went to Matthew Griffin, who looked really quick on track, from Declan Hull and Graham Ball.

Open Class was a mixture - which is why it’s called Open I guess. As well as the normal shifter karts we expect in this class we had a couple of Rotax’s on ‘open’ tyres. It was the shifter karts & the associated horsepower that came through though. Alex McClennan taking the days win from Jody Vincent & Joel Thrupp.
