Welcome to 2008!
Convener of the day, Andy Mac, proved that men can multi-task too!
The first club day of the year saw a great field of Cadets/Un-Rated Cadets hit the track.
We put them all together as a few the Un-Rateds were chasing ratings.
Michael De Ponte pretty much had a clean sweep of this class and took the days win from Brad Wilson and Chelsea Herbert, who is to be congratulated on achieving her A rating.
Junior Restricted, after having been one of the largest classes at City of Sails, was one of the smallest at this club day. All good for club points for these drivers though. Aaron Wilson taking the overall result from Oliver Pykett and James Wood.
With only one Junior Yamaha in attendance Danny Keene ran with Formula Juniors, which was a very good field of drivers.
Daniel Kinsman, Mitchell Pykett and Scott Reddish had some excellent racing through the day with Daniel taking the win. Mitchell got second on countback from Scott.
We had good numbers in Yamaha Light & Club Class, with just a couple of Yamaha Heavys thrown in for good measure. We put them all together on the track so they could mix it up & have some fun. There were quite a few new faces in Club Class, hope you guys enjoyed your day.
Todd Jolly, back burglarying, took Club Class from Shaun Curran and Shanon Hope.
Yamaha Light went to Scott Sample, from Lara Greaves and Nigel Kurtz and Heavy’s went to Leyton Kendall from Colin Lewis.
Not a Rotax Light to be seen on Sunday, but we had a great field of Rotax Heavys. Anthony Murch, once again, took the club day honours. We welcomed Tim Wakefield back to Auckland, and he took second place from Warren Parris.
It was a pleasure to have youngster Ryan Belworthy make the trek from Rotorua to get some track time in his KZ2 kart in the Open class. Ryan finished second for the day behind Graeme Smyth, with Glen Green in third and Keith Warwick in fourth.
