2012 City of Sails 2-Day Challenge
You will find the site list here COS Site List and the map of the complex here TRAILER MAP2
This should ensure that you don’t get too lost on Friday/Saturday when you’re setting up.
The club is looking forward to seeing you all for an awesome, albeit demanding, two days of competition.
With entries closed off for the 2012 City of Sails event the following classes are confirmed as running -
Cadet, Junior Restricted, Formula Junior, Rotax Light & Heavy and Yamaha Light & Heavy.
To show reciprocal support of the Senior Yamaha drivers that are supporting the event the organisers
have decided that the Senior Yamaha classes will run and be combined on track with separate class results.
We sincerley hope that this compromise is accepted by all involved.
Unfortunately the Junior Yamaha class will not be contested.
The entry list is here COS EntryList
Late Entry Fees have been waived. Online entry is still available & the system WILL show a late entry; however, this will be at $0.00 so don’t panic! Put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard & we’ll see you there!
The City of Sails 2-Day Challenge is a go for 2012 – and it is hoped that the 2012 event will in fact be a TWO day challenge!
Auckland’s City of Sails will be held at the Moselle Panel & Paint Raceway over the long Waitangi Weekend of February 4th/5th; ideal for those competitors from outside of Auckland, as they also benefit with the Monday free.
Classes on the agenda to be contested are Cadet, Junior Restricted, Junior Yamaha, Formula Junior, Senior Yamaha Light and Heavy, Senior Rotax Light and Heavy, KZ2 & Senior Open.
For drivers not contesting CIK this event is the perfect start for the 2012 racing year. With eight races over the two days, utilising the track in both clockwise & anti-clockwise directions, it is test of mental & physical fitness for all.

Day one sees the first four heats in each class contested from pre-determined start grids. Day two sees a further three heats contested, also from pre-determined start grids. Points earned from all of these seven heats will determine the start grid for the final races on Sunday afternoon, the culmination of two days solid hard work from drivers & crew alike. Final results are obtained by combining the points from the 7 best results of the 8 races for each driver, which is where the consistency over the two days of competition becomes paramount.
To date entries are arriving steadily for most classes with several drivers making the trek from the South Island.
Come play at Kartsport Auckland’s City of Sails – win or not, you won’t regret it!
