Kartsport Auckland Inc : 1959 – 2009

The 50 th Anniversary of Auckland Kart Club/Kartsport Auckland will be celebrated over the weekend of 29th - 31st January 2010.

We invite all past & present members and anyone who has had affiliations with the club to join us in these celebrations.

Also over this weekend the club will be holding their annual City of Sails 2-Day Challenge; with racing on both Saturday and Sunday. This will enable anyone who is lacking or behind in a ‘karting fix’ to catch up with the sport trackside.

This will be a weekend where we can all catch up with old friends and acquaintances, reminisce, save the karting world – again! – while having a damn fine time in the process!

We are looking for expressions of interest for the following activities/functions –

Friday January 29th 2010:

  • Wine Trail; this will be a wee trek around the West Auckland wineries where you can indulge in sampling ‘the best of the west’ along with enjoying the company of your fellow connoisseurs.

You will be collected from the clubrooms at 10am; you will have a trip out to Muriwai Beach & lunch at a local farm stay all worked in & around the visits to the wineries. You will then be delivered back to the clubrooms around 4pm - in time for the Mix & Mingle. Cost: $150.00 per person; includes wine-tasting fees This may reduce depending on numbers.

  • Harbour Cruise; the Waitemata Harbour this time year is beautiful. Relax & chill out. When you’re on the water you’re in a timeless space where when the spouting is broken or the lawns need mowing, it does not matter! Time to chat & catch up on years gone by. Cost: $60.00 per person. Includes transport from clubrooms to pier & return; approximately a 4 hour cruise with light snacks provided & a cash bar available.
  • Golf; Sad but true – even petrol heads play golf. Is it that competiveness that will not go away? Take this as another opportunity to catch up & shoot the breeze while chasing that little white ball around.

You & your equipment will be collected from the clubrooms at 10.30am & taken to Redwood Golf Course in Swanson where you will then conquer that little white ball.

After your stroll you will be returned to the clubrooms in time for the Mix & Mingle where you are most welcome to brag about your days score.

Cost: $50.00 per person. Own equipment is a requirement.

  • Mix & Mingle; this will be held at the clubrooms on the Friday evening. A good chance to get together & compare your days activities.

Cost: $15.00 per person. This includes a ‘supper’ menu. The clubrooms bar will also be open for refreshments.

Saturday January 30th 2010 - RACING!!!!

Day One of the City of Sails event will kick off around 11.00am – so you get to have a sleep in. You’ll have to leave early though to get ready for –

  • THE 50 TH ANNIVERSARY GALA DINNER (North Harbour Stadium)

Dinner & Dancing - Live Band. Memorabilia on display. A wonderful chance to, again, catch up with old friends. Guest speakers who will entertain all & possibly embarrass some. But all for a good cause!

    Cost: $55.00 per person

Sunday January 31st 2010 - MORE RACING!!!!

Another chance for a sleep in – racing kicks off around 11.00am & this is finals day. Come & enjoy the racing; you’re allowed to compare hangovers. Make sure you catch up with those you missed last night.
